My summer 2021 class for Asbury Theological Seminary is the Theology and Practice of Preaching. I will be at the main campus in Kentucky mid-June for an intensive class. If you have an interest in improving your preaching, you will find the reading list interesting:

–The Witness of Preaching by Thomas Long
–A Little Handbook for Preachers: Ten Practical Ways to a Better Sermon by Sunday by Mary Hulst
–The Holy Spirit and Preaching by James Forbes.

The Hulst book in particular is extremely practical and I would highly recommend it. We all have room to grow, whether it’s your first sermon or you’ve been doing this weekly for 20 years.

And yes, for those who have asked, I will preach a couple of times this summer, but probably only once on a Sunday morning in big church, the other messages will be intentionally crafted according to the requirements of this class and delivered at some other time – let me know if you want to be invited because I do need an audience!
