What Was Your Favorite Bible Study This Year?

I am already thinking about August and new studies!  Badge-of-Awesome

So please hit REPLY to this email and give me the name and author of the best Bible study you did this last year.  Don’t think too long about it, just tell me what comes to mind immediately.  (If you are a Facebook follower, just leave a comment.)

I’ll also take the name of the best Christian books you read this year, even if they were not Bible studies per say.

Tell me what you loved, what changed your thinking and your life?!

I’ll post the results in a week or two so we can all have something new to think about.

Thank you!!

  1. The Return of the Prodigal Son by Henri Nouwen. Fabulous book and study.

  2. I would love to see what you can do with ” The Uncommon Woman” by Susie Larson. I enjoyed reading this very much, but as I have stated before, I think that if you added some commentary to it, what a wonderful study it would be – just my humble opinion. Yep, feeling a lot better.

  3. Mindy,   My favorite Bible Study this year (and I love the whole series, as you know…cause we did “Lord, is it warfare, teach me to stand together) was “Lord, Heal my Hurts.” This study is helping me see that the only true healing is from the Lord.  We’ve sought many sources of healing for our adoptive kids and they have all failed.  He took us through each of these “methods” to show us that He is the only Healer we need.  These kids are not healed yet, nor is our family, but we are trusting in the Lord.  He is taking my anxiety through this all, which has become burdensome, and is helping me take every thought captive through this study.    My favorite book, ever, and I read it this year is “1,000 Gifts” by Ann Voscamp.  These last six years have been so difficult, and the Lord hasn’t made things any easier yet, but Ann’s book made me think about life differently.  I can now be thankful, even in the midst of the chaos in my life (and there’s lots) for the small things, which become big things.  I am almost to 1,200 gifts in less than a years time, and I am still counting.    I had to share both, because these books have both been instrumental in making this the start of a new road for our family.   Hope that you are doing well!    Blessings, tAryn

  6. Hi Mindy,

My vote is for Kelly Minter’s study of Ruth (Loss, Love and Legacy – Living Room Series). I’ve always loved the book of Ruth, but some of Kelly’s insights really changed my perspective and increased my respect for Ruth. I also really enjoyed Kelly’s writing and the style of the study. It was just what my JAG women’s Bible study needed!

Can’t wait to see the list you compile. It will help me plan for next year’s study and hopefully give me some new books for my reading list.

    Warmly,

    Kristin

  7. I would like to recommend the book, Kisses from Katie, by Katie Davis. I loved that book and have bought many copies to give to friends. I also liked Francis Chan’s book, Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit, which also has a Bible study with videos of him.
