Here’s the plan.
We start our journey through the New Testament on Monday, January 6 with Luke 1 – are you ready? Do you have a plan, a time, and a place to meet with God regularly?
One of my husband’s favorite quotes is, “No plan survives first contact” which is infantry-speak for the tendency to abandon all plans when the first shots of conflict are fired… but I guarantee you that every military squad has a plan, will adapt the plan as needed, and will carry on overcoming obstacles until victory. So at least have a plan!
My plan is to blog every weekday on the text we are reading. Honestly, this seems like an enormous commitment that I find somewhat intimidating, but I believe it is what God is calling me to this year. So, I am going to show up every day and expect God to interact with me and give me something to share with you. It will be a big adventure for all of us!
One note. I am not writing a commentary on the New Testament. There are many wonderful volumes written by erudite seminary professors and theologians, and I am happy to recommend some of them to you. Additionally, the Foundations New Testament journal gives an excellent paragraph every day that sets the scene for each chapter. I intend to simply share what I learned in the HEAR journal process of my reading – what stood out to me, what it means, and how we might go about applying it – so life transformation happens.
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father may give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know him better. I pray that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which he has called us, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” Ephesians 1:17-19
Let’s go!
