What the Cat Doesn’t Know

He jumped on the bed early this morning, waiting for his breakfast. I didn’t feed him. He sat by his bowl and cried. He walked laps around me in the kitchen. Every time I got up, he ran down the hall and waited by his bowl. I didn’t feed him. He is feeling neglected, frustrated and very hungry.

He has a fasting blood test later today, but he doesn’t know that. I wish I could explain to him that it will all be fine soon enough. I speak kindly to him, hug and comfort him, but I will not feed him until the time is right.

Then I realized this is exactly my relationship with God. I am praying, complaining, eagerly waiting for Him to do something. Surely now is a great time! But when there’s no answer, I simply have to wait. He sees me, he hears my prayers, and in His own time He will do what is right. “If you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him.” Matthew 7:11
